Default trouble after warm up

I am working on 1987 & the car runs perfect until you shut it off & wait 10 minutes & restart. After restart the car will run irratically sometimes but not always. It can have some performance or can just about keep itself running.
I changed both fuel filters & checked fuel rail pressure which is 35 psi at idle & jumps to 42 when you crack throttle. When I first checked the rails the fuel that came out of the schrader valve looked like it may have been very old or concentrated fuel injector cleaner. I checked the distributor
and all looks good inside.
The gas tank doesn't seem to shush when you take off the cap.
If you get stuck because of very poor performance & take off the negative battery lead for about 10 minutes it will start & run perfect until the next time you shut it off.

Any suggestions??

Steve

"Check Engine" light on? If so, check the codes.

It doesn't seem to have a light or a working light.

If the 'check engine' light is not working, you can still down load codes:

Check your fuel pressure with a gauge when its cating up. Make sure you disconnect the Vac line that goes to the fuel pressure regulator.
