This is my first post, so don't beat me up too badly. 96 couple. Stuff that works through fuse 31 (power mirrors, lighted vanity mirrors and rear view) doesn't work. Replaced the fuse, but no change. Hood lights don't work either. Next step? Thanks.

Did you look at the fuse by the left front wheel? There is 1 (10 amp) just behind the headlight in a holder all by itself. Alot of owners pull that fuse because on the drain when the hood is open for extended times.
Did you check to see if the fuse had power coming to it? (EDIT OUT: If not, report back and I will look up the up stream source in the FSM when I get home.)
Fuse 31 is sourced from the ignition switch and is hot in the run and start/test switched positions. The vanity lights and rear view mirror lights trace back to a common ground.
Someone mentioned the under hood inline fuse for the under hood lights. That line has power on it at all times and has nothing to do with the fuse 31 circuit. I didn't know about that fuse before seeing this thread. I'm going to wire in a toggle switch in line with that fuse and plug my under hood lights back in on both sides!
All this info is from a '94 FSM, but these was no reason to deviate between '94 and '96.

Thanks for the help folks. I took the car in for state inspection and had the problem looked at. I was told that it is a bad switch for the power mirrors and that it affects the other stuff because of a common ground. I'll replace that switch and see what happens.
