Cars Pinging

What product can i use to stop my vett from pinging when driving.Only happens when going up hills

If you are using premium gas (91 Octane or higher) and the initial timing is set correctly, there should be no pinging under load. Are you using 87 octane unleaded regular??

Use higher octane and have timing checked.

Using high octane fuel, and timing has been checked, sounds like the knock sensors are not doing their job.

Base timing should be 6 degrees BTDC with the tan wire with black stripe disconnected (esc bypass). Reconnect after timing has been set, and then disconnect the negative battery cable for 30 seconds to clear the code set.

Clearly you have something amiss, the knock sensor should be retarding any detonation.

What year is the car?

It's possible the harmonic balancer outer ring has shifted and your timing isn't what you think it is.

Are you sure it's pinging? You might have an exhaust leak.

If you can hook up to a scanner it will show if your Knock retard system is working properly. A scanner should show a few knock counts at startup , then any knock counts after that should show the timing being pulled to stop the knocking...I also think your system is not working properly....WW
