84 corvette top speed
well i was wondering what is the real top speed an 84 crossfire vette, when i looked up the specs most websites says 130mph and i really dont think thats true because i have had my 84 up to 125 on a straight away on a closed coarse and it felt like i could have gone much faster.
So what is the fastest you have gone in your 84 vette?

Mine went strong up to 123 and then leveled out and wouldnt budge past that but Ive read some cars were limited by the state where it was sold, not sure about that.I had a friend that had one up to 150,not a bull$hiter so I would tend to believe him.Wether that was on a looooooooooong down hill grade I couldnt tell you.

When most of the car magazines road tested the '84, they reported top speeds in the 135-140 MPH range. When the 85 was introduced, the mags reported speeds in the 150 MPH range.

Keep in mind that VERY few Crossfire cars are tuned correctly today. Most are high miles, out of sync TBI's, sloppy timing chain and gears, injectors long beyond their prime, worn out TB shafts, worn sensors and connectors, low compression, poor alignment settings, etc. Finding one that is in its factory state of tune may prove difficult....and running one that isn't tuned correctly to its limit is meaningless.
I found that by bringing everything back to how it was supposed to work, my old Crossfire was quite responsive. Sometimes much more so than the hundreds of half assed L98's running around today
The biggest improvements were a new timing set and synchronizing the TBI's. Those two things alone REALLY woke the car up.

...And with that said, I'll close this one down. Keep top speed runs on the track.
