I bought a wheel on Ebay and the seller said they were AMolds. Are AFS wheels OEM? They say made in the USA, but there is no gm numbers on them. Aren't A Mold wheels OEM?
The original 5-spoke wheels will be marked "A-Mold" and have a GM part number.
AFS wheels are good quality and will stand up to activities like autocross and track days. I have used two sets on my 87 for over 5 years now and there is no indication of any problems with the wheels.
I have a used set of AFS ZR 1 wheels, they are in great shape, probably 7500 miles on them and mine are also stamped USA made. These are the silver painted ones, not chrome or polished. They are well made.
AFS wheels are not OEM/GM A-molds. I've had two sets of AFS wheels - first set were made in the USA, the second set were made in china. the USA set were chrome, and to be honest, the plating didn't hold up too well for DD duty - mostly on the inner barrels, and some minor pitting on the outer surfaces. this may not have been the wheel's fault, but may have been for my lack of care - washing, waxing, etc, etc. the second, made in china, set were paint silver, much like the A-mold CE wheels. they've been on my son's 85 for at least 10 years now, and are holding up great. as I recall, they mounted and balanced nice without any excessive weights and run true. I bought both sets (w/ tires) directly from AFS via fleabay. I was lucky, and sold the chrome set to a used car dealer for $200 - he put them on a rough, well used, 90 coupe that he was having trouble unloading.
