Another beginner question
I plan to change the shocks on my 1992. Looks pretty straight forward. When you change shocks where do you place the jack? Front ? Rear?Where do you place the jack stands? Front? Rear?
Thanks
Dennis

Look along the rocker panels, you'll find the jacking points
For jack stand location find a substantial frame point
Its been a while since I've had mine to jack up
IIRC in the rear there is a flat place near where the frame widens out. Its hard to explain when you look under there you'll see it. In the front it depends on what I'm doing, lots of options. When you lift the front you'll see the options.
Good luck
Don't forget you need a floor jack to hold the rear knuckle at ride height when changing the rears. And be carefull with the bolts on the frame at the rear, there are welded nuts inside the frame, you don't want to break one loose. (don't ask me how I know)

OK ,you have me scared on the rear shocks
I assume you broke one of the nuts off, what was the fix?
Any suggestions on what I should do to insure I don't break one off?
Thanks

PS i do have a floor jack and two jack stands

Just go slow should be fine. I just got in a hurry and I guess there was a little rust and the nut snapped free from the weld. At the time I just bolted the old shock back up tight. Went to a chevy dealer as I didn't really have time or the tools. But the solution if this happens is to drill about an 1 1/2 hole in the frame to get a wrench on the nut to remove and replace, then either weld or jb weld a plate over the hole and paint. But don't worry, this is the kind of thing that only happens to me, so you'll be fine.
