Default Foglight upgrade

I replaced my headlights a few days ago and noticed that my foglights are useless. Dismal light output and the plastic lenses need some light haze buffed out.

I've used a product, plastX, in the past to buff clear plastic that was hazy with good success. I may try it out in the fog lenses.

On to the bulbs - I know some guys do HID conversion for the fogs and use them as the primary lighting. I'm not opposed to HID but not for primary light and not in that bright white color either. Is there a lower wattage HID available that would make the foglights actually help with lighting but not be so bright as to outshine the headlamps? What about color temp? For the fogs, does a deep yellow color look good on he C4?

Would like to know what you guys have done and see some pics if you have them.

PlastX will work to clean up the fogs. I believe 35 watt HID is the lowest. Switched from 6k to 5k for my fogs. If you want HID fogs that are similar to your headlights get 4300k. I thought about getting the 3k(yellow), one thing for sure is that they are best for visibilty.

Where did you mount the ballast? Did you use the mini sized ballast or the normal?
I googled some images and think I like the 3k temp for the fogs.

Did you piece together the parts yourself or is a 'kit' available from a vendor?

Looking for some info on a vendor to get HID fogs.

Thought corvettehid.com was a vendor but perhaps not any longer? Regardless the website is defunct.

Ashamed to say I turned to that auction site... now I'm doing battle to get my money back for a worthless product that doesn't work. (cheap bulbs that never reached the correct yellow/gold color, remain in their "warmup" green color indefinetly and one of the ballasts failed after less than an hour!).

So, can anyone recommend a reputable vendor that will stand behind the product? Looking for a quality kit and would like to stay away from the garbage kits all over the auction site, been there done that.

Also - where do you guys mount the ballasts? C4 doesn't leave much free realestate under the hood.

Man, that sucks. I mounted my ballast on the of the foglight housing, under the hood. I bought my HID fogs from corvettehid.
Maybe you can try corvettemods out?

I highly recommend the HIS foglamps from CorvetteMods. I have them on my 84 and rewired them so I could turn them on/off independent of the headlights. I use them primarily as running lights in the day time. Nice punch at night too.
