I currently have a Delco non-Bose radio installed in my '91. Will any double DIN head unit fit properly in it? I understand that a bracket from the stock radio mounting will need to be removed before installing a new unit. I believe a Metra wiring harness, antenna adapter, and an in-dash receiver kit will be needed as well to do the install properly. Any recommendations on a head unit? I've already replaced my factory speakers with Pioneer 3-ways last year. I'm also not looking too add a subwoofer speaker assembly to simply things.
One more thing, do you leave the CDM intact or remove it altogether with the stock radio?

Short answer is NO as all double DINs are not alike. The Metra install kit come with a single Din pocket which you simply throw away. I am using an AVIC Z series and light sanding on the bezel was requires, the CDM is long gone.
Crutchfield.com is an excellent resource. You can enter your car year and original stereo, and it will bring up a list of head units that will fit. They also have a really good online and call in help line.
I can't speak for all double DIN radios, but I just installed a Kenwood DPX 500BT in my 95 using the Metra mounting kit (for the mounting ears only) and it fits like a glove, poking out of the hole in the trim just perfectly.
The wiring is another matter, since mine is a Bose and I have a substantial cluster of wires to run from behind the back seat to the head unit. Also, cutting out the plastic in the back, which many on this board say is no big deal, wasn't much fun. Like others, I used a hack saw blade.
