SLOW DOWN!!!!
Why the hell do I always hear this while driving through a neighborhood? I go the speed limit and even under sometimes, yet someone always yells at me to slow down. And these people yelling, "slow down!" speed though the neighborhood all the time and I have even seen them run stop signs. Just because my car may be louder than theirs does not mean I am speeding.
I got fed up yesterday when a middle aged mom yelled at me to slow down. I didn't slow down at all. I stopped and had a little conversation with her. I explained my story and how I wasn't speeding. Then I let her know that I have seen her speeding through the neighborhood in the middle of the day. Her reply: "Well, watch out for children." [/rant off]

The point is-they shouldn't yell at you if you are doing the speed limit, but if it is anything like my neighborhood, they are probably sick of having people use their subdivision as a NASCAR track. Maybe you were unlucky enough to be the last car (looking like you were going fast, but not) in an all-day parade of ricers, pickup trucks and SUVs flying through a quiet neighborhood, sending kids, pets, joggers, runners, etc. flying in every direction. I can't count the number of times I've had a Chevy Subdivision clip my curb at 60, being driven by a tiny housewife with a cell phone the size of a chicklet crammed into her ear. The ones that were unlucky enough to be confronted by me usually don't do it again-a change in their driving behavior, at least in my neighborhood, is the goal.
Yes, a good many of the offenders were neighbors, and once we had a friendly chat after everybody calmed down, they have always been much better at observing the posted 25 mph limit.
So-on behalf of "slow down" yellers everywhere, I apologize for your unjust chastisement. We occasionally have a lower threshold than we should.
Please, just SLOW DOWN in the neighborhoods. The speed limit is not necessarily a license to do up to that speed-keep in mind the presence of pedestrians, kids, pets, school buses, etc. I'm one of the world's nicest guys, but run over my wife or my kid or my cat, and the excuse "but I was doing the speed limit" isn't gonna cut it! :mad :cuss
And, as always, after you are out of the "hood" and in a safe place, light em up!
Thanks for letting me rant,
Mark

Sometimes you just have to ignore the ignorant people......
Parents hear a car and start to go grab their kids until they see it is me.
Backyards are for kids, streets aren't.

If school buses are a problem, you might want to try what I did...
A fight occured on a bus my son rode (he wasn't involved). One kid struck another so hard that the kid that was hit was knocked out, and suffered a broken jaw and fractured cheek. The bus driver drove off, with the kid laying face down, out cold at the bus stop after he fell off of the steps of the bus.
When the principal of the school failed to return several phone calls, I called the superintendant directly, and spoke with him. He wasn't familiar with the circumstances, but promised me an answer within 30 minutes.
Lo and behold, 10 MINUTES later, I got a call from a very helpful principal, who explained that he had placed the incident under investigation, and would keep me informed of the outcome. The next day he called to let me know that the driver had been fired and that the kid who injured the other kid had been arrested for assault (he was a 19 year old 10th grader :mad ).
I said all that to say that sometimes ya gotta go right to the top of the chain of command.
Hope this helps,
Mark
