Tomorrow, my friend and mechanic and I are gonna install a kit that starts the cooling fans at 200 degrees instead of 228 as the computer does in my 90 L98. The car runs too hot with the air on when in traffic, it scares me. The grounding sensor goes in where a plug is the block on the right side when facing the engine. The it is wired to the fan relays on the side of the radiator. This plug is removed with a square socket tool. What size is the tool? A 1/4" is too small and a 3/8 is too big. Is it 5/16 or a metric size? I ask because I don't have it and must buy it today. Thanks in advance.
What works in that hole is a swivel extension, the tip of the swivel extension fits the hole perfectly.
Just make sure you clean the hole out and push in while you are turning it.
Bob,Thanks for your reply, I searched long and hard thru my toolbox and found the tool that fits. It is a 5/16 male socket that fits into a regular 7/16 socket. I used this tool in Mack Trucks machine shop many, many years ago. The swivel socket is a 3/8 and is not the right size. But , hey, the tool fits and away we go tomorrow to fix the g#%&&^%m hot running problem that scares the bejesus out of us loyal, loving C-4 owners. When I am finished I will post how installing this ground sensor and wiring harness works.
