Trying to determine the process of changing the PCM bracket that attaches to the firewall. Mine is broken and the PCM is interfering with the hood closure. Anyone done this before, I see the bracket is available on line for 40.00.
If its like my 93 then you have to remove the brake booster bolts to get to the bracket. The bracket is sandwiched between the brake booster and the firewall.
How is it broken? I mean is it like fractured? Only reason I ask is that mine had separated (horizontal and vertical sections came apart). Thought I broke it but it turns out that they just slide back together. I had to remove the one bolt on top by the hood cable to get it put back together.

The bracket is actually broke. The part that slides into the pcm mount bracket is broke off about 2in toward the firewall
I have the same problem with my 96. The bracket just sheared off from the booster and the computer just sits on the master cylinder and the cc servo. sometimes it even moves and pushes down on the cruise servo and revs the engine. Looks to me like we both have to remove the booster. I thought the bracket was actually molded into the booster cover though. I have been driving it this way for 2 years. I think this winter I have to correct it. Hopefully you get some good advice here. sorry I cant help
You don't have to completely remove the booster or master cylinder. Just take the 2 bolts off from the inside. Take the pin off the brake pedal where it attaches to the booster rod (not sure what its called). Pull the booster towards the front of the car till the bolts come out of the firewall, then replace the bracket. When I replaced my booster I took the master cylinder off the booster and slid it forward. I had to unbolt the asr and move it out of the way so the master cylinder would go forward enough to allow the booster to be removed. You may not need to do this to just get the booster bolts out of the firewall. There was a post on here from a member with pictures showing how to replace the booster that helped me out a lot. Just do a search on brake booster and you should be able to find it. I remember his username was something like littleskatecrkr or something like that.
