Default Key Question

Bought a new ignition lock, that comes with a fake key, so you know the cut. My question is, before I changed my ignition lock, my vats number is 9. After I change the lock, I must remain a 9 and get a key cut to match the fake one???? In other words, in case im confusing everyone, the car vats will remain a 9 no matter what, I am really just changing the cut on a new key---Thanks in advance for the help!! Am I correct?

Yes, trust me. Your VATS code will be the same. Do this everyday.

The VATS key resistance is matched in the VATS module. Your new key must match the resistance in the VATS module or it won't work.
