Presently I own a 96 Purple LT4 coupe with 105k miles. I love the car. My wife doesn't care for the 6speed man trns. She saw a Yellow 09 coupe 14K miles and auto. Dealer is asking $34.9K. The 96 has Corsa exhaust and headers so its not real quiet. The 09 is stock. I am torn between keeping the 96 or trading for 09. Some other insight would be helpful. I can afford the cost difference on insurance and personal property taxes approx. $60 a month and $200. per month in payments
I make that noise when I am sitting on the can. I can even power shift!
That's really info I didn't need to know, I can only imagine what your reading while power shifting. I guess spending 30 secs shifting should be enough Im leaning towards the C6
We had an Equinox and just traded that for an 08 Suburban, needed the extra room, and because she likes to sit higher and a big vehicle. She wouldn't get a VW or anything else except a Chevy since that what is I prefer to own
A good wife is hard to find and a great is very rare, I have a great one. I can always find a good car but I cant replace the wife. I wish I could afford to keep both but its only one Vette at this time

Buy the C6. You can have a more muscular sounding exhaust installed later.
I was at an area car show 2 days ago. A few of the C5/C6 crowd who run Borlas were giving an '08 driver a hard time about how quiet his car sounded. They compared the sound of his Corvette to the sound of an electric motor-powered crotch rocket that had just cruised through the parking lot. The '08 owner was red-faced.
A wife that loves Corvettes is a keeper for sure. I would hate to give up a stick for a auto but as long as I had a vette I would be happy and the auto would make the wife happy. It looks like the C6 wins in this situation but you will miss your C4 and the six speed.
Do like I did and buy the C6 and KEEP the C4 -- my daily driver.
Driving the C4 every day is much more fun than some boring econo-box. Well not exactly, I sold my '90 Supra (nice car -- I liked it a lot) when I got the new Corvette.
I have a 2013 Grand Sport. This is an amazing car. A friend of mine (who has one) told me, "You're going to love this car". He was right.
Go take a test drive of the 09. If you are meant to get it, you'll know then. I've driven a C5 and while it was fast, it wasn't my C4. Just not the same feeling IMO. Never driven a C6.
If my wife said lets look at a 09 and get rid of our 92 I'd go look in a heartbeat. Doesn't mean I'd do it in the end, nor does it mean I wouldn't do it the first car we test drove....
