Why a 73 just curious? Chrome rear and plastic bumper.

I do like the C4 for all the changes made to try and improve it. From the crossfire, but I wish GM would have put more of an effort into making the crossfire more powerful, many forum members easily improved it by 40 hp. To the tpi in 85 and putting a 6 speed in a corvette for the first time also changing the bumpers in 91 and changing the engine again in 92. The only problem with the C4 was some loved it and many didn't like it. With sales steadily going down it was obvious that not to many people were keen on the styling. Most people switched to ford in the 80's and bought a mustang. Cheaper and just as fast or faster if you were in an auto racing a manual mustang. But I still dig the C4.

Only 1 C5 I would consider- 1999 FRC. But I would not get rid of my C4.

I can understand the '99 FRC (I have one). It is a great car. I love it.

Why only that one? My reasons were that I like the hardtop style with a trunk, I like the cleaner appearance without the rear brake ducts, I like the 0.5 ratio 6 speed, My favorite would be a Nassau blue, but I have a Pewter.

Just curious since the other C5's have some good points too. Like better Z06 performance, a bigger cargo area under a hatchback, the targa tops, automatics are available (although I like a stick), etc. I couldn't decide so I have targa also. Mine has some mods for better performance and handling that could be applied to any C5.

I agree though and I don't want to be without a C4. However I just sold mine to upgrade to another one.

I am fortunate enough to own a C5 along with the 1991 coupe that I just got done painting last winter. They are both great cars. The 1999 that I also have has its own distinct set of issues, mostly with regard to electrical parts availability issues. I can tell you, that the yellow C4 gets more smiles and comments than the red C5

I like em both

The wife says this one is a little more comfy to ride in though

With the indulgence of the OP, I would like to pose a question to the folks here that have both C4/C5, or really anyone I guess.

My C3 is in mid restoration and I probably won't finish it for another couple of years. I am about to make a job change to a more rural / small town atmosphere, and would like to buy another Vette as a daily driver. I will still have the truck for true winter, but the Vette would be a 3.5 season, 4-5 day a week rain or shine driver. I should also include that I am 6'2" / 240 ish.

My choice would be a 94-96 C4 Convertible. I have always liked the C4, and to my personal tastes the C4 was the last good looking convertible. The later ones seem out of proportion to me. If I went C5 I would get the targa coupe.

I haven't driven a C4 since they were new (friends) and have yet to drive a C5. I remember the C4 being pretty tight for a big guy.

So which would be better for my needs.

All views and opinions welcome.

Hate to say this but I love my C5 as a DD more room more comforts and if something was to happen to it its only a C5 they are a dime a dozen right now. Plus I get about 50K miles to a set of tires and 24 to 30 MPG.

04 bought new now has 160K miles with just normal maintenance.

When I bought my ZR-1 years ago I could have pretty much had any Corvette out there, within reason of course.I looked at a new C6,a 64 Coupe but it always came back to a ZR-1.

'99 FRC over Z06 FRC because I would want the first year, it just looks more pure. I never cared for those brake scoops/vents behind the doors that much.

This would do just fine parked next to my '89!

I'm 6'5" and don't have any troubles fitting in my c4. Then again, I can even drive a miata, and owned one for a month, before I sold it because it was too small. I drove an rx8 I owned in the past from Colorado to Cali round trip, and could drive 10 hours straight in it without getting too sore (stopping every few hours for gas as a stretch).

With the c4, the longest I've driven it without stopping is 120 miles? When I get out it is one of those really relieving stretches. But beyond that it is really comfortable to me. Keep in mind, I do slouch while driving it. If I were to sit in it with perfect posture I would max out my head to the roof.

Another factor is I only weigh 170 pounds, I am naturally lean, and I'd imagine if I was big boned it'd be a lot harder to be comfortable in a c4.

I have a C4 and have no plans on adding any newer Vette to the stable any time soon. I was looking for something to easy tinker with and I like the clamshell hood and classic SBC under the hood. I don't commute, rent cars for business travel, and have other trucks plus people movers for my family. No need for another 2 seater with limited space.

I'm not interested in hyper performance on the street either. I learned that the hard way with my 1100 CC sport bike. Couldn't rev it much without shattering the speed limit in 1st gear and a direct to jail card at the end of 2nd. So driving it around town became boring with skipping gears or short shifting.
