Went to the local auto parts store this afternoon to pick up some odds and ends and found a variety of Johnny Lightning Corvettes. ('98 red vert, '63 Grand Sport, 63 red split window, & a pale yellow '70-sorry no C4s available) I could not leave without having them all. Every time I go to Wal-Mart, toy store, auto parts store I have to look through all the hot wheels and make sure there is not one I don't have. I just counted 50 that I have already and that number is steadily climbing even though I have only been in the vette world for a year now. The girl that checked me out at the auto parts store asked me if I was getting them for my kid. When I told her they were for me she looked at me like I was crazy. Does anybody else have this problem?
I have 13 JL, and 1 Hot Wheel (the only reason for the HW is I couldn't find an early C4 in JL). It started 2 months ago when my mom asked me what I wanted for graduation (from tech. college) and I told her a Corvette. On the cake was a JL from each generation (which I was quite impressed that she knew that much!) except the C5, which I added later. My fave is the '53/'2000 combo on a display with changing billboard. It is :cool: When I get a digital camera, I'll post a pic of it.

Re: I think I have a problem (flannel_man)
I have hundreds of Nascar die-casts, but no Vettes... :rolleyes: I think I have the problem. Actually, I recall I have two... one HO scale (for model trains) C4, and a 1/18th 1957 Convertible. Thanks for reminding me, going to dust them off now.... and shop for more on ebay... :flag
I collect them too, I think it is a very cheap way to enjoy Corvette's without spending a few hundred grand. Of course it would be real cool to have a few more real ones in the garage too. :eek: :eek:
Here's what my wife said;
"You should reply that he doesn't have a problem the check out chick does. What does it matter to her who the cars are for, she is still selling the merchandise and making $$$. Plus what kid that plays with the cars actually makes there own $$$ to purchase them??? NONE. :lol: Plus she's missing the point that everyone has a little kid inside, some just like to show it more then others.
:D :cheers:

Oh yeah, same here. I'm 31 but looks 21, which means I get looks from just about everyone who probably thinks I'm too old to be "buying toys". My collections's about 40. :cheers:
kinda funny you mentioned that....i was looking through the die cast cars today at BJ's WHolesale Club, but alas, they had no LT4's or C4's at all....and I havnt bought any yet, but was still lookin....hahahahahaha :lol:
