alright guys ive got a couple questions, ive always wanted a vette and possibly have a chance of getting an 85 with 72,xxx original miles, from what ive heard the only problems are it needs tires and thats pretty much it (i work in a tire store so thats not really a problem) but ive also tried searching wheels through my vendor and come up with nothing is the 85 really this distinct and not staggered. i really dont want to custom order a $1500 set of wheels i saw tire rack has a few options but nothing staggered is there any possible solution to say a 17 rear and 16 front matching wheel withought custom

84 -87 have 16" rims fr/rear
88-96 had 17" fr/rear
Only variations (exc ZR1) in a given year was the rim width
Any later model Vette rim will bolt on fine BUT the offset is different resulting in the tire sitting 3/4" inside original location.
3/4" adapter is usual fix
Given 16" rims stopped in '88 , if wanting stagger ,more likely to find a 17"/18" combo from a later Vette and use adapters

You can get the 88-96 17 inch A mold c4 wheels with the 54mm offset and use adapters.
Or get the 38mm offset 17 inch A mold wheels to fit the early 84-87.
There are many sizes of adapters to fit whatever wheel, C5 and C6 wheels are a popular change and do look great on C4's, hopefully some will post their pic's.
Below a pic of my 85 with 88-96 17x9.5 all round 275 40 17 tires, and body update. These rims have been on the car with adapters for over ten years without issue.
