Ok guys just looking for some opinions, at the moment I drive a 2002 WS6 and i have found a nice 96 Vette with low miles. I think i can get about 28000 for the TA and the Vette is selling for 19000, what do you guys think I should do? The only concern i have is that i'm giving up a near car with 3000 miles with factory warranty for a 96 that has 15000 miles with no factory warranty.
After you look at the facts overall, you are probably better off with the vette. Your F-Body is a nice ride and is fast, but it's still no vette. The 96 has low enough miles that you should be able to get a warranty for it. If you can get a GM ext warranty, it's the best out there. You may want to get an LT4. There are equal to if not faster than the LS1. Not sure if you will be happy with an LT1. Before you LT1 guys get your panties in a wad, I'm not saying the LT1 is slow, it just will not feel as close to an LS1.
Keep in mind there will be issues with the C4 vette. Water pumps go at around 60,000 miles, weather stripping seals leak, glass tops crack, rear bearings go at around 60,000 miles, etc, etc. Not sure what problems the 2002 F-Bodys have.
I just gave the guy a call and seeing as its been raining all day today we agreed that it would be best to look at it when the weather clears up. I'm not too bothered about the power differance as i'm putting a new engine in a 91Z28 and that will forfill my need for power. I'm gonna give him a call tomorrow and if it's dry i'll take a look.
