I have a 1990 Corvette, Conv., with Manual Transmission.
I know how to take the gear shift **** off but don't know how to remove the leather cover (boot) on the gear shift. There must be something that holds it on but I cannot find it.
The frame of the leather boot is screwed to the console from underneath in my 95 coupe. You need to remove the console and unscrew it he boot from it. Be careful. The plastic it is screwed into can be brittle. After unscrewing the boot I had to carefully pull it apart from the console due to 18 years of grungy buildup. Good luck.

Reason: Added model year.
I got the **** off and the boot is loose but I cannot figure out how to remove the leather boot from the **** holder. The 1990 has to have the circular thing pulled up before it will go into reverse gear. I don't know how to remove the leather boot from the circular things below the shifting ****. It is on there and won't come off.
