I believe the remotes started with the 1992 models. I had a '91 which never came with remotes from the factory. I installed an aftermarket keyless entry instead with alarm. You can also check with your local Chevy dealer to confirm the part number and cost.

It came with facyory remote. Read about it in your oeners manual. Perform the fob programming procedure as far as you can and see if everything seems to wirk. If it all look OK it is probably safe to order a fob. They rin about $130.
