I a very new to the corvette board and the corvette world. Although, I never forgot my first ride in a corvette, 1966 my neighbor's. it was bright red, loud and very fast.
I need a little assistances if possible, I have done a lot searching on this forum and the web and I can't find a dimension I am looking for. The closest thing i have found is from the Mitchell 84-96 Targa Top Door image.
I am looking at a 93 that has very low milage and was, " lightly rolled" I understand no such thing as lightly rolled. From the photos it does look like a very repairable project and although I haven't worked a frame in years I do have a fair amount of experience
Could someone provide me with the measurement at the door opening apex to the top of the windshield frame. I want to measure the car I am looking at on Saturday to see have much the window frame has been pushed down
I am not trying to destroy your dream of owning a corvette. If this was lightly rolled....they should give it to you along with some cash to tow it away. Rebuilding this car is NOT going to be CHEAP....even with sweat equity. The cost of new body parts alone will be $$$$$ . Then paint.....if you do it yourself you will save...but still.
You would probably be better off finding a car that has not been in a wreck that is in good shape. Walk up....pay the may and drive away and enjoy.
Do a little math....cost of the car that was rolled, costs for body panels add about $2000 for paint if you do it yourself. Then look to see what is out there, running and in good shape. Check out some of the cars with higher miles. I bought my 95 with 139,000 miles. With some care, this should go over 200,000 miles.

I truly understand what you are saying, but by the photos there is very little body damage other then the windshild and top. Of course until I have eyes on this could only be a allusion probably a pipe dream. This is the reason I am looking for the door / widow dimension
with PLRX. There is no such thing as lightly rolled. Rolled is rolled and that means it must be totaled so it should be a salvage title. Unless you are going to use it as a parts donor for another car or part it out, walk away. You will never get it "right" again. No car is meant to be rolled especially a composite body car. Panel and panel seams can be cracked and damaged. The front sub frame may be "tweaked"
The perimeter frame runs through the "B" pillar and windshield. And the "B" pillar uses high strength steel. To me, rolling it makes it a "single" use frame. Look for another C4 project - there are a lot of cheap C4s out there in much better shape that are candidates for repair and restoration. Good luck.
I've done several light and heavy rolls, and they are very easy to fix, probably the easiest of all, and normally don't affect the drivability, and cause the least damage to the rest of the structure. Basically you jack the pillars back into position. Is all the glass broken out? Is the targa top gone? Where are you located? The quickest way would be to measure both sides at various points, and then cross wise at various points, and note any differences. Any frame shop will have the exact measurements. Remember, it's not going to have a lot of value if salvage.
I think I may have fixed the white one on top, or one just like it from this forum! (came out great, but it was years ago). I think Ron (aka Cusinartvette?) may remember it.
Zr1 Fred. I was able to look at the car this morning, it's a real shame. 93 with 31k miles. The owner had it covered in his garage for the last 9 years. It started right up and was able to pull in out in the daylight for me to inspect. The owner rolled the car and was able to explain what happen. He has a lot of sentimental value with the car since he inherited it from his father; probably more then the car is worth. I will keep looking for a good used 90ish model.
