I have a 1987 standard coupe. My converter was rattling a lot today when I started to go on a Sunday afternoon drive. Sounded like a bunch of ball bearings in a tin can. The car was running like crap at the time, lucky to get it up to 35 MPH. 2 hours later it is running good with no issues.
I started looking for replacement converters, the 87 models look like they bolt on one end and weld on the other. I looked under the car, from what I can see without jacking it up is the converter bolts on both ends? Did the factory one bolt on each end or bolt on one end and weld on the other?
You have three cats on an 87. The front two precats are welded, the rear one is clamped on the front (3") , and bolted on the back, unless it has been replaced.
