valve cover gaskets

Default valve cover gaskets

have to replace 26 yr old gaskets. what`s the best to use? i don`t know whats there now. i have the aluminum heads if that makes a difference. that pipe on right side, i guess EGR pipe, will it be a problem to get off?

use the rubber ones, you can re use them too, generally you dont have to use any adhesive on them as long as the rocker covers are flat

how about that EGR pipe? don`t look like its gonna want to come off.

Soak the bolts you only have to loosen the ones on the intake you remove the ones on exhaust then gently twist the EGR pipe out of the way. That is how I do mine

Me 3 .. I cheat, I spray a hair of trim adhesive then stick it to the Valve cover so I don't have to worry about it slipping.

Unbolt the EGR tube from the intake manifold. It is flexible and you can bend it out of the way without detaching it from the exhaust manifold.

I actually use a rubber on the left side (so the tall cover clears the wiper motor) and a felpro blue on the right side, both work well,
the biggest problem i found is the original magnesium rocker covers seem to leak no matter what you do, using solid alloy aftermarket covers cured the problem.

magnesium valve covers? look like stamped steel, centerbolts to me.
