Default Intake Runners Question.

Got a question for you guys. Blackout(my brother) is taking his runners off and going to polish the outside of em to make them look a little nicer. Any idea as to how much to torgue the Torx bolts down???...or is there a sequence you have to do when you put them back on the intake???? Thanx.

It is typically from centre out in steps: i.e. 40, then 60, then 75 lb/ft. Let me get my Chevy small block spec book and see what the exact torque/sequence is. <-- Unless someone beats me to it.
I assume it is an L98 engine?

[edit]: just realized I left my spec book at school. Shows that at least I have my priorities right! I can get the #s by tomorrow, but by that time you should have at least 10 replies. Ain't this forum great?! :smash:

75 lbs/ft
I haven't looked into a manual, but my first thought is that if you
crank those runner bolts down to 75, you're gonna rip the threads out of the plenum before you can get to 75.
An intake manifold onto IRON heads is only 35 lbs/ft.
Start calling tuners to get the correct torque specs or you'll probably be
calling around for a set of Heli-Coils for your plenum.
Good luck.

From memory it was more like 25lb/fts. If nobody has posted the official answer before I can get home and check my service manual I will post it when I verify.

FWIW, I've pulled the runners off about four thousand times now and just do them up by feel now. FWIW, it's not exactly a load bearing part.
