Im guessing your agreeing with me GDP. Ive looked at quit a few. I saw a 89 6 speed for 6k. It had a water title on it and a knock in the engine. I didnt mind the knock because I can fix that but the tittle will drag and lower the resale value of the car forever. I was looking at a 84 that was in a wreck and you could tell but had it fixed. The inside was pretty messed up but ran good. I woulnd have mind the crossfire because it would have been tossed anyway. They wanted 6k for that one also. For some reason people like to buy overpriced vettes here. Just check out some they have at the local vette dealer. They wanted 9k for a 88 in decent shape.

will do. I still cant find what kind of trannies these things have in them. Im guessing the 700R4 because it has been mentioned a few times the search but cant find the answer.
If it's a '90, it is a 700R4 (also called a 4L60). In '93, they went to the 4L60E (electronic shift version).

See these threads, it might help explain things.

Btw, 9k for a decent shape '88 is not over priced IMO, especially if it is in very good condition.

"Think I got a good deal", no.
This is an auction car from Mannhiem Auto Auctions. Its beat.
A re-paint and not a good one. The tires are gone and mis-matched.
I would walk from that car. Never buy sight un-seen. Never buy a car you havent driven. Never buy a car that you haven't had checked out by a service shop.
The pin stripe sucks.
This car will not make you happy.
The dealer paid less than $4,500. for this car.
If you want a C-4 buy one from a private party, not from a dealer auction.
Buyer beware.
Well someone had to say it.
HTH.
well hate to say it but you where right Bones. Went up to Dallas and the car looked great from a distance. Got up close and started to see some problems. The paint was crapy, the interior was ragged out, and the car rattled like a wild snake. That car was crap. I think it was even in a wreck because the rear axle seemed off tiltered. The seets where coming apart, they would not go back and forth. The dash was falling apart and there where a lot of things wrong with that car. I straight up told the lady running the joint that I could not buy the car because there was not a accurate desription on ebay for what she had. She understood and went are ways. well, the search continues for a C4. Anyone in Austin or surrounding area sell a good C4 for 5 to 8 thousand.

Luke,

I think 'good' is a relative term. Fixing the little things have kept me from modding the 86 I bought. Though I would consider my 86 to be good, it is a 16 year old car and it does need attention. Just got through making sure the AC worked again, the cruise worked again, and just when I thought I can spend some money modding her or rest, BLAM water pump and the coolant line going to the oil filter housing needs attention. Only costs $40, but my knuckles are getting sore from slamming wrenches in the apartment parking lot. Im sure you will find a nice one if you keep looking. Heck, make me an offer and I may sell you mine. Most of the expensive mid-life crisis repairs have been done  Good Luck!

At least you were smart enough to walk away. Keep an eye on the 4sale section of this forum, something will come up that you'll like. :yesnod:

Vettes seem pretty reasonable around DFW, you might want to get a copy of the Dallas Morning News (that's where I got my Ruby) and the Ft Worth Star Telegram and come up here and make a weekend of looking for one!

Good luck in your search, sorry the other one didn't work out but if you have time and patience you'll find something really good. Seems like you might be able to pick up one at an auto auction too, I have a friend who's fiance sells cars and he sees old C4s at the auction all the time.

If you have not allready done so, go to http://www.autotrader.com and search for one. It lets you narrow your search by model, year, location, and price. Sometimes you can catch a new listing before it comes out on paper and snap it up. Be patient there are good deals out there. You just have to grab them fast. As for the E-bay deal at least you did not lose any money. I have bought a vehicle off E-bay and it went smooth. I went to get the vehicle and if it had not been as advertised I would have done as you did and walked away. I was happy with the car and bought it.

Wow, I just went back and checked out the seller's feedback and saw he had 13 negative comments. That works out to about 5% of his customers being dissatisfied. That does say something about the type of seller he is. Real important to check feedback. In the past I have even E-mailed previous buyer's about the seller and the product before buying.

Sorry about that, but you're better off.
Cars like that give Corvettes a bad name.
You can find a good C-4 for $6-8k but you're not going to steal one.
If your willing to travel LA California has the biggest selection and the best prices on Corvettes. Try autotrader.com with a 90041 zip.
