Default Any Ideas?

So my wife and her friend took the Vette out tonight to get something to eat, Well they call me about ten minutes down the road to tell me that there is steam rolling out from under the hood and it smells like coolant. So I get in the daily driver drive up there to check it out. There was a small puddle of oil under the car but honestly that's nothing unusual. Other than that I couldn't find any leaks or any sign of a leak. I wasn't even low on coolant, I started the car up and it sounds fine I then drove it to a friends house (It's closer than home) and the gauges didn't indicate any problem at all. When I got to my friends house there was not any sign of a problem at all. My wife is not the typical woman she knows cars and she would definitely recognize the smell of antifreeze, So I have to trust her but I don't know what the problem is. So anybody have any ideas what the problem could be?

Perhaps a small coolant leak, but not enough to make a puddle under the car. Could be dripping on the block.

EDIT: On my Formula, since it was a trial-and-error for my throttle body bypass because it was home made, I got to smell lots of coolant on the engine block :jester
