I have to replace the right rear quarter panel on my '93 and since I am in the U.S. right now I'm picking one up to take back. Does anyone know if I need anything else such as replacement screws, special glue or whatever for attaching the new quarter panel that I ought to get to take back to Saudi Arabia with me?
I'm stuck with having to have the local GM place in Saudi paint it, I figure if they don't do a decent job I was planning on getting it repainted when I ship it back to the U.S. anyway.
From what i read they are glued in place. I would find out here in the us first. I know how it is in Saudi, I lived in Riyadh for 3 yrs. Thing pretty calm over there?
The panels are bonded in place. GM has a bonding agent.
If not GM then an autobody paint store should have what you need.
Are on the eastside of saudi? Kings and beggars.
Thanks, I'd better check into this with the GM people. If I don't get the right glue those idiots back in Saudi could try to stick it on with Elmer's or chewing gum or something. I'd hate to have it just blow off on the freeway over there!
And yes, I am on the Persian Gulf, Dhahran. Things are a lot shakier than they were when I went to work there 12 years ago, even worse than the Gulf War.
U do need a special kind of bonding agent 2 install them. Where doing mine @ the shop and not just any bonding agent will work, so I would check with GM. Good Luck  :seeya
Checked with a GM dealer here in Houston today, the parts guy said it is an epoxy and that I have to get it from an automotive paint supply place. I'm tempted to take my chances on the GM dealer in Saudi having this stuff, they claim to be able to repair fiberglass and they did do almost the same job replacing a quarter panel on a '93 exactly like mine. Plus I don't think I'd be able to carry that bonding agent in my luggage on the plane ride back, probably flammable.
