Default Convertible stupid question

How do you drop the roof? I press the button in the consol, makes a popping noise but nothing releases. 93

it is much like taking the top off.

remove the top from the windscreen...

from the outside, lift the back up, push the button, pops the cover, open and drop the top in.

ok, i went thru this also

1> undo 1 latch above each sunvisor
2> get out of car, and put driver seat leaning forward using lever on back of headrest on drivers seat.
3> look and feel for a lever that releases the two pins that hold the bottom two corners of the convertable top down, it will be hard to find the first time, get on your knees outside the door and look with a flash light, it is on the front edge of the rear hatch behind the drivers seat, one found pull to release the pins, while looking you will see another yellow button, like the one in the center console, while holding up the back side of the top, press the yellow button, this will release the hatch, so you can lift it up into the open position.
4> with the hatch open, easier with two people, but can be done with one, lift the front of the top up and over toward the back and you will see it will fold down into the opening where the hatch opened.

5> once into the compartment be sure to turn the two visor latch handles back to the locked position, or you will mess up the paint inside the hatch as you close it.

6> close the hatch , it should lock into place (this is the yellow button latch).

7> enjoy the drive.

OK, do this.

Get and carry with you a working flashlight.
Move driver's seat all the way forward.
Sit on door sill and shine flashlight under the deck.
You will see a small L-shaped plastic handle that pulls a cable.
Stand up and pull the end of the handle with your LEFT hand parallel to the deck lid and towards the front of the car. It only moves a couple of inches.
That releases the two pins on the rear bow.
Lift that rear bow up approximately 90 degrees with your RIGHT hand and hold it up with your LEFT hand.
Reach under the deck lid with your RIGHT hand and press the yellow button and lift the deck lid up to about a 90 degree angle. It should not fall or close.
Lower rear bow into open space under open deck lid with either hand..
Unlatch front bow at both windshield latches.
Lift front of top up and push toward rear. If the top has not been opened for a long time, it may be stuck to the gasket.
The top will basically fold itself.
Smooth as many folds as possible.
Move latch handles to closed position and close deck lid carefully.
Place baseball cap on head, sunglasses over eyes, and drive.

Speed and accuracy will increase with practice.

Mohawk gave a good description on "how to" but for a while I was scratching my head as your thread showed a hardtop! Only had my top down twice in 5 months as it's to hot in FL.

the latch is to the right of the yellow button on hatch, as looking at it, pull left side of latch toward front of car and release.
