My dad has a 1990 corvette. When he bought it the owner said he didn't have the remotes for the keyless entry. No biggie, I was going to order more but now researching it looks like 1990 Corvettes were not offered with the keyless entry? While working on the car this weekend, my dad did something? and the horn started going off as well as the security script light in the instrument cluster was illuminated. If the car didn't come from the factory with keyless, I'm guessing its after market but how does it tie into the dash? I'd really like to just purchase a new fob if possible and reprogram it. Any help
It has a factory security system.
But as you found out, it does not have a keyless remote entry.
The security light you mention sounds like the factory security system.
If the doors are locked, and you reach in from the outside and unlock/open the door it will set off the factory alarm (horn sounding as you describe).
When/if that happens, insert the door key and unlock the door that way.
That will cancel the alarm.
Anytime you lock the doors, the alarm will be armed.
