Default Help Anyone??

I have a complete 91 C4 front and rear IFS,IRS That I about 75% compete with total polishing and rebuild. I want to fit it into my 1948 Chevy Fleetmaster. I have found some very invasive kits that are outrageously priced, $7K or so.
Anyone have any better thoughts, links anything would help.
Thanks, Bruce

I think I found a solution to the the rear IRS through a company called street car garage .com, with shipping can't to about $390.00 and appears to be exactly the fix, it is weld in cradle.
Still baffled about the front, I read on a blog sone while back that you should just retrofit the corvette donar crossmember into your vehicle but haven't been able to locate it, any advise would be appreciated!

That would do but you need to make sure you do the correct x-member. When you mentioned you had the front IRS I assumed you bought x-member, rack and also the control arms with spindles.

This is an '89 - '91 x-member - you should be able to modify any x-member that is '92+ easiest depending on the engine used. The link is just to give you an idea of what you're looking for. There are many things to consider:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/C4-Corvette-Front-Crossmember-K-Frame-Engine-Cradle-1989-1991-OEM-/300826097549?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item460aa1f78d&vxp=mtr
I don't know that the rear you mention is a wise buy or not. It would seem you need to fabricate something similar to what you intend to buy BUT it should be able to be accomplished by your self.

Ask this fellow to send you some ideas and snapshots. I'd say he's pretty much "on top of the game" and could help you immensely. You can't be the first to want to accomplish what you're intending.

His front is a "one of" but you can get many ideas from his build and it can be accomplished. I don't know about his rear but I'd look, ask and learn:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c4-g...-calipers.html

I've seen several rear installs in C1 and C2 aftermarket chassis by many constructors and none were so sophisticated that they couldn't be duplicated locally. I've sold a few rears that have been used in similar builds as you're anticipating. You pay $500 for a cradle and then maybe that much again for it to be modified for your use. Fabricate it yourself from the start.

Might get a better response asking on the Chevy forums.

Not alot of C4 owners that have hotrods with retro fit suspensions

Have you compared the track of the C4 front with your 48 to see if it is compatible?
The entire front cross member will fit into any chassis ( track width dependent ) if you do enough mods but some aftermarket kits only use the wishbones out and have a custom X member because of a different width requirement

Thank you so much for the info, I was beginning to think since I dint have a "corvette" but only using parts I wasn't getting any replies. I did order the rear IRS cradle to fit to my car, I will let you know how it looks when it arrives, basically everything I found involved hevy mods I wasn't good with so this one seems like it may be good.as far as the front, you may have misunderstood, I have the entire front crossmember with all of the components bolted up, basically just cut it out of the frame in its entirirty. So I think I can play with that, I used to have a lot more support from family for advise on this stuff but I may need to rely on you guys for this at this time as most family has gotten away from it.

I didn't think it really mattered since I am fitting both front and rear C4 suspension, am I wrong?

It does appear that I am working in uncharted territory, but as they say, "if you have the will you have the way" and what could be better then C4 Corvette stuff then Mustang, who the hell wants that.
