Kicked tires for years, then bought my first Vette. A 1995 Torch Red automatic from the original owner. 24,000 miles. Garage Queen/Immaculate. Paid $12,000. I looked at/drove some C5's in the $19,000 to $20,000 price range. I am SO glad I chose a C4. Here is why: It feels like a sports car. Yes, I liked the C5, but it felt "too modern". C5 was like driving my every day driver. When I drove the C5, it felt like I was driving a really cool car. When I drove the C4, it felt like I was driving a VETTE! The C4 felt so stiff (until I took the targa off!). The performance, the handling, the look- honestly, you can't beat it. C3 felt primitive. C5 too advanced. C4- JUST RIGHT. If your thinking about joining the vette club- I think C4 is the answer. At first, before I bought it, I considered this "my starter vette" and then I would upgrade. No way. I am keeping my C4 even I do decide to go C5 in the future(most likely because I will put miles on it and I fully understand the re-sale will be low as this is not a classic and may never be). Anyway, if you are considering a C4- go for it!
I feel the same way. I sold my C6 so I could buy a C7 without having to worry about trading. It sold much faster than I expected, so I bought a similar C4 to hold me over so I would not have to be without a Corvette. Mine was a one owner 94 torch red with 23000 miles.
I am having so much fun with this car that there is no way I want to sell it when I get my new one. I love the way it drives. It looks like I will have to keep both.
