Use the 'front' lock lever that locks both doors to arm the alarm and don't do it while you're driving DAMHIK. Use the key on the door to unlock it and disarm the alarm.
I have a 93 but it didn't come with the remotes. I have been using the door lock method you mentioned. Can i get replacement remotes? If so any idea where?
GM made an add-on keyless entry system for their vehicles. I have one on my '86. The one I have is VSS-200. I doubt you could still find one of those. One feature I like is that with an extra relay and some wiring (described in the instructions) I can open my hatch with the fob. The fob only has lock and unlock buttons, but I can open the hatch by holding down the unlock button.
The VSS-200 was superseded by VKE1000. This one has a nicer fob with 4 buttons.
The cool thing about these units is that the instructions tell you exactly how to connect it, with wire colors and instructions on how to make sure you're tapping into the correct wires. You must have power door locks to use these kits.
