Found a Pic of a Black C4 with MUD FLAPS. Looks pretty good ... Anyone else think Mud Flaps look good on C4? Also, where are C4 Mud Flaps sold? - Thanks
4x4 pickups have "mud flaps"...corvettes have "splash guards" I think the ones in the picture are Altecs, the same kind I have on my 94. They're paintable to match if needed. If you check Mid American Motorworks, Ecklers etc you should be able to find some. I ordered some front guards and they fit great, just don't recall who I got them from.
I was planning splash guards for this winter's projects. But I bought a new truck instead. I think I might try not to use the Vette for everyday so I won't be as worried about driving in the rain.
I like the black ones, they kinda camo themselves with the tires. Probably depends on the car color...
These formed "splash guards" could also be painted to match the body color. Most of them had a textured surface so it takes a lot of sanding to get them smooth.
I had these flat plastic splash guards on my old '02 just for trips. They were held in place by three of the wheelwell screws and could be easily removed.
Sorry never liked them and GM as far as I know never made them a factory option which tells me something. The next owner of your car will appreciate them however since less tar and chip marks would keep the paint extra nice for the next guy.Chances are if he is like me it would be the first thing to get changed.
BTDT. Had 'em on my black 95 for a while, but took them off - threw them away.
They were not as effective as I had hoped
Dust collected inside and made its way to the edges where the guards contact the paint = marred the heck out of the paint. Some clear film under the edge of the guards would have prevented that, perhaps.
The damage to the paint put me in a sour mood - didn't like the look (takes away from the clean lines of the C4). And pitched 'em and never regretted it.
Very nice pic thar Pete! A really beautiful - stunning even - setting for a beautiful C4! (I think I know that exact spot on the highway - took some pix there as well.)
If you're looking for something cheaper and something that blends into the car, check out the splash guards from CorvetteMods, which is a vendor on the forum. I bought mine for a little over $20 if I remember correctly and they bolt right on, really about a 10 minute job.
