Default plug wires

Hi everyone new to this forum.
Did anyone have any trouble with burnt plug wires.
I just picked my 89 up a few months ago and it started to run bad two weeks later. Then I found the plug wires burnt. Just cheap wires or is this
a problem with c4S ?

If the wires lay on the exhaust manifolds they will burn, if you have headers on your car it's even worse and sometimes plug wire boots are needed to keep the wires cooler...If you get a set of Taylor wires, they have a much higher temperture rating then the stock wires, but keeping the wires away from the exhaust is mandatory on any car....WW

The stock Delco wires have high temperature silicone insulation. If you use the stock wire clips they will work quite well.

Burnt plug wires are a problem for any vehicle where the wire looms are eliminated or tossed in complete disregard. Any vehicle with properly routed wires should NOT have issues. Headers will create issues that require likely different looms and routing of the wires. There's certainly differences in the insulation materials that various vendors use BUT routing and the looms are critical regardless of choice.
