Default 1996 Collector Edition Paint Code WA#

Is there anyone out there who has a 1996 Collector Edition who could help out with a question on the WA# Paint code that is located on the Service Parts Identification Label. This label is found under the center console door. It contains option codes, VIN and a number of other codes.

I am looking for the WA# code for the Sebring Silver Metallic Paint.

I know from data base information that is was WA# 9566. However someone is presenting a code of WA# 9021. This 9021 was a silver for the 1997-2000 model.

Again, I need someone to look at the label. This WA# will be on the last line of the label.

Thanks

Also from Swampoodle. I appreciate your response and not to be smart about it, did you take it from your Service Parts Identification Label. I need it from there and not from any database. That is the correct one that shown in data bases.

Thanks again and I do appreciate your response.

Default Paint Code Collector Edition

I can not thank you enough for your help with your photo.

The Paint Code of 9021 that is shown on your Label is shown in all the data bases that I could find as a 1997-2000 Paint Code.

Your photo is worth a thousand words.

If you look at your attachment with the specifications on 1996 you you will see that 9021 is not listed anywhere for the 1996 as an exterior paint code. This is the confusing part and I do appreciate the photo to substantiate that the 9021 Paint Code has been assigned to the Collector Edition.

Any one else out there, please can you send me the same information.

If you can not post a photo, please just let me know the four digit WA# Code for the paint.

Your '96 SPID label is NOT on the console door. It was moved to the rear storage compartment in '95. You should be able to confirm any information you need from your SPID label. I see maybe you do NOT have a CE but just looking for information. The location of the SPID label might help anyway.

Thanks for you advice. Yes I do not have a CE. I am trying to determine what the correct paint code of U 9021 as the one shown on the Service Label does not appear in any data bases for 1996.

Thanks again for your help.

Decipher the paint codes as follows: If there's only one paint code it represents the paint color for the entire vehicle and the preceding U, WA or L is irrelevant. The four characters after these letters designate your paint color. If you see more than one paint code, the characters immediately after U or WA represent the upper color, while the characters after L represent the lower color in a two-tone paint job.

What I believe you're seeing is the "evils of the Internet" and the "compiling of information data-bases". The 9566 that you reference finding is for "all GM other than Corvette" but when data-bases were compiled and carried over from previous years and various models the assumption was 13 silver is 13 silver - well it "ain't" that simple.

The 9021 appears in "all" information data-bases that were compiled properly. Simple as that.

9566 and 9021 will appear in a generic Chevrolet 1996 inquiry but if the data-base is compiled properly, you can isolate Corvette the 9566 should get tossed and only the 9021 should appear. If you can isolate a Camaro for example the 9021 should get tossed and the 9566 survive.

Here's one that's "compiled properly" and you should be able to check what I've mentioned. Just change GM products and different models within the Chevrolet name plate and you should see.

Is there other errors in this particular one? I've no interest but it best explains what I understand about GM paint codes, WA's etc.

Tom you of course are correct BUT the OP is questioning the validity of that information based on Internet information. It's been displayed on a valid SPID displaying all the correct information, a '96 VIN, the correct model RPO Z15 and the car is an unusually optioned Z51 with N66 9 1/2" wheels X 4 - many aren't aware of CE's being optioned that way.

Your SPID is 100% but the paint information mentioned is in error. I realize you took it from the CAC but it's a poorly compiled paint reference also. I believe you'll find the ones referenced in my link correct for the WA 9021 reference.

BTW - Your CE will enjoy the company of the ZR-1 once it arrives I'm sure. The engine looked outstanding in your post.

Thanks WVZR-1, I've had my CE for a few years now, I posted the SPID because I also saw the dependency in what was on CAC. Thanks for clearing things up. I've been trying to run down how many CE's came with Z51 & LT4
