Just replaced the battery in my 92' and now I got nothing. Hooked everything up correctly, opened the door to start it (interior lights came on) turned the ignition switch and I heard a faint pop and all went dead. No click no interior lights no nothing. I guess it could be a fuse, but what would have made it pop? Is there a main fuse somewhere other than on the passenger side fuse panel? Manual was no help. Defective battery? HELP!!!!!!!
Did you put in a battery with top posts (as well as the side terminals)? If so, the positive post could be contacting something above it and shorting out the whole electrical system.
What is the battery voltage at the terminals? You may have gotten a battery that had become discharged from sitting for a long time. Try charging the battery and see what happens. It's possible that a fusible link has blown.
Did you clean the ring on the cable terminals? Sometimes a leak at the terminals connection will create a green crust and that will prevent a good metal-to-metal contact. The starter takes a pretty high amperage load to work but things like interior lights will light up with metal contact about the size of a nail point.
Also make sure the terminal bolts are tight but not so tight as to strip the threads. The battery terminals (female threaded holes) are very soft and easy to strip.
