I bought a 1990 convertible about a month ago. It has the 6-speed manual transmission.
Since then, on several occasions, the engine has stalled for no apparent reason. It usually happens right after the car has been sitting briefly (i.e., a gas tank fill-up or a 1/2 hour visit to the store). There are no warning lights or gauge indicators of any problem. The engine really just begins to sound like it is not getting enoigh fuel. After starting the car again, the problem does not recur (except for once when it happened a second time immediately after the first).
Anybody ever seen this or have any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Unexplained stalling (Parrothead)
Try putting in a new fuel filter or having it cleaned out. More important than you think. Also make sure you're idling high enough to begin with. Too low of an idle can cause it to drop if it never really hits loop mode correctly. Might be your IAC (Idle Air Control). Put up the hood and start it up and check the throttle response....rev it higher and higher and then let it go. If it tends to drop very very low. Somethins up. Like I said check your fuel filter...and if problem persists it's probably the IAC....just check that the throttle isn't f*** up first. L98's don't usually have other reasons for this. Luckily. And it isn't very hard to fix. Unfortunately they're notorious for it. Especially on these forums.
