Finally Found Mine!
When I decided to purchase another Corvette (sold my avatar in 1982), I started a thread entitled "Why Purchase a C4?" Well, y'all gave me great answers and, after driving several C5's and only one C4, I agreed with your assessments. If all goes as planned, I will be picking up this cherry '96 on Monday! Can't wait!!

You're going to love it. I got my C4 in May of 2012, and my grandfather loved it so much he bought a C5 in hopes that I'd like it enough to sell my C4 and he'd let sell it to me while he upgraded to a C6/7. It's a year later and guess who still has his C4? The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
I use the "A" pillar to both lower myself down into the cockpit and pull myself back out.
Pulled into my driveway in St. Pete about a half hour ago. The trip from Marietta, GA, was 490 miles and took me 7 hours and 45 minutes. The car performed FLAWLESSLY! It is in such good shape my experience was akin to picking up a new car at a Dealership to drive it home.
Thanks to y'all for your support on the "Why Buy a C4?" thread and all of your well wishes on this thread. I'm sure I'll have lots of questions... really glad I found CorvetteForum.com for the answers!
Oops... time to change my avatar!!

The view through the windshield of the C4 offered me that view but, it's lost in the C5's and C6's... the fender peaks are flattened and rounded. Thankfully, the new C7 again has sharply peaked fenders.
The other experience I can relate is: My first Corvette was a '56. So, I've owned a few C1's, several C2's, several C3's and now the C4. What is so interesting to me is you can tell the moment you start one up that they are all related. Maybe it's the resonance of the fiberglass or the layout of the controls... you just know that they are all of the same family. I did not get that sense in the C5's I've driven.
So, I think you guys have picked a winner and I'm grateful you led me in that direction!
Oh... and it's deceptively quick! I can't speak for the LT4's or the 6-speed LT1's but this automatic LT1 with the performance axle ratio (appx. 67 MPH in 4th at 2,000 RPM) surprised me several times. I need to check out the torque curve because it pulled from almost anywhere at almost any speed.
