Default I still like her

Sure the new C7's are amazing. Mine would be considered junk to most people. Its sitting in rough primer, needs door skins, a new top....until recently it was leaking oil from some obscure place. Its rough riding, doesn't shift smooth, and it doesn't even get as good of fuel mileage or as much power as the new ones. But I was out there today polishing this, tweaking that....and I couldn't help but smile and think to myself that I still like this ol' car. Looking forward to the day when all of the little mechanical garbage is over, she's sitting in new paint, and my time spent on her isn't busting knuckles, but in polishing or smoking the tires.

You're right but you still can't get more bang for the buck Corvette than a C4.

The C7 will lose twice as much in deprecation, as soon as you drive off the lot, than I paid for my C4.

That is how I do it. A little a time will get you there.
I bought this car in 2008.. since then it has had 5 different engine combos.I started with a cammed L98 with LT runners now its has a LSX. It has gone from L98 exhaust to Lt1 magnaflows after a few different combos.

I am a gear head buy nature and would not have it any other way. I try to do as much work as I can. It a rewarding feeling to know that I have done it all myself.

I have driven a ton of C5's and other sports cars, and I believe there will be a nice C6 Z51 in my future within the month, but there is nothing that can replace my '93. I love it too much and it's one of my favorite cars that I've ever driven. No other car can consistently put a smile on my face every time I drive it.

Trying to get my C4 up and running, I miss it when it's sick.
I am stuck driving the C5.

The '86 is my daily driver with about 149,000 miles on it.

I think owning a C4 is like owning a used Harley motorbike... no matter what goes down with the machine they are great to have... I like mucking around with my 1988 C4 and my 2000 Harley 1200 Custom Sportster.

Both are great to look at, the Harley shakes like you wouldn't believe but I love it... the C4 ... i wouldn't part with it.

Absolutely!!! Enjoy it for what it is...the classic American road car. They were meant to be driven regardless of appearance.

Later,

Not a thing wrong with a C4 - they are fun cars. Good luck with your restoration project.

I know the feeling. Mine's a work in progress (soon as something breaks.. it gets swapped with a performance part. Or whatever happens to be in the neighborhood of broken part gets swapped too as I fix the car).

It needs a reclear if not a repaint around the hatch panel. The carpet needs work in the back, both seat covers need replaced. it rattles, it's not fast by modern performance car standards, isn't the best braking car in the world.. but on nights like last night when it feels like hitting a lick, damned if it can't put a smile on my face when I play with the throttle.

Comparing a Corvette to a Harley is the worst insult for a Corvette

I dunno...the urge to tinker is hard to get rid of!

(My build started out as the need to replace the injectors....$10-$12 G's later, I'm still thinkin' bout what to do next!)

Mmmmmm... well, in Australia you pay double or triple for a Corvette and Harley than you would in the USA... it costs about 30 grand to convert a car from left to right hand driving, so a Corvette, even one like mine (1988 C4) is big money, especially if it is in good condition... You don't see many Corvettes getting around here... they are an iconic brand, as is Harley.

Going from my new Mitsubishi car and getting into the Corvette, is like getting off my new Suzuki sport tourer and getting onto the Harley.

The Corvette is rougher ride as is the Harley... both the C4 and Harley are eye turners... both are iconic brands in Australia and expensive to have.

My Harley custom sportster is a really good looking bike and just for that reason it's worth having... the C4 is a good looking car, and just for that reason, its worth having.

That I can use both, like the new vehicles is great... the Harley sounds awesome... the C4 loves the freeways and country roads where you are not bogged down in city traffic.

Comparing the Harley to a Corvette, is a personal thing with my vehicles... in the USA you can buy a C4 real cheap but not here... in the USA the Harley can be bought cheaper than here.
