Quite a bit, actually. The wheels are directional and the turbine design aided cooling and airflow.

While the design may not please everyone, it didn't bother the 50,000+ 1984 buyers.

Many of us still appreciate the design

Other mfgr's copy-catted the design as as well. (Nissan I believe) Smooth on the sides for airstream and speed. Vented for brake cooling.

What they said. Function over form if you will. 30 years ago 16s were cutting edge and on a 9.5" wheel to boot.

You are correct. That is the "16" base wheel used ONLY in 1988.

I think they look ok when they are polished as seen on my 84...

Just curious how do you think they look compared to the rims on the truck behind the vette?

rims on my truck fit the 05 era truck compared to the c4 rims fit the c4 era vette

They still look like hub caps to me, thought they were when the 84's came out first time I saw them. That truck is smokin!
