Code 42 problem is still here, a little history, car can sit over night and in the morning it will not start on the first crank, come back and try it again and it might start after trying to start it again. I have already repaced the ignition module and that didn't help with the problem, next thing to replace would be the Electronic Spark Control, or the HEI unit according to Haynes book, I tried to start it last night and let it run a little bit since i have not been driving it, car started and ran very rough and would not idle at all, now this is after replacing the ignition module, I am at a loss as to what to replace next to fix the problem and I miss driving my car SO MUCH :cry :cry ,can anyone help or has anyone had these same problems before?????

Never had mine not start, but 2 different times it wouldn't idle at all - it was the idle air control valve both times. The non GM ones don't hold up very well.
Re: Code 42....I Hate IT!!!!!!!!!! (Brett Richmond)
I just cleared up my code 42, although my car started and ran, just not very well. Here's what I found.....look under the wiper motor, down towards the bell housing, and you will see a connector with 4 wires. This comes from the distributor. You relly have to look hard for it. Mine was stuck together, but not snapped all the way together. Once I snapped it together, my code went away, and my car ran great. Mine was hard to start, but always started. I had to remove the wiper motor (What a PITA!!!!) to get to the connector, just couldn't get my hands down there to snap the connector together. I should point out, that when this connector was not together, the car Would not start.
