I accidentally found one of my buzzing/rattle noises this morning on the way to work. Yea, I should pay more attention to driving....
It seems that I thought there was a lot of buzzing from various areas so I was pressing on the dash, roof, console, sterring column and then I put my finger on the instrument cluster.....silence. OMG! It brought back memories of most of my parents Chevy's where in every one there was a folded match book cover shoved in some spot in the dash. Their 59, 63 and 66 all had at least on matchbook silencing rattles in the dash.
Apparently those clips that hold it in are all singing while driving. Just another reason to remove the cluster and silence those clips along with cleaning the contacts so I can have steady lights in the cluster too.

A coupla tricks to avoid using matchbook covers.
Use some velcro (softside) attached to the panel where the rubbing/squeaking emits.
Put a dab of RTV on the screw shank to prevent it from loosening. (Like a soft locktite)
Always tighten the screws on a plastic interior panel after all the screws have been installed.
The random pops from my halo moldings are a really annoying thing. Otherwise my car is pretty quiet. Definitely less rattles than my 2003 Accord, which is a super car in every way except that it sounds like a box of paper clips.
