I watch the early C4 market like a hawk. It has become something of a pastime/obsession.
I have noticed that when you see a car with a base set of options, such as no Bose, no power locks, no cruise, and no leather, that most of the time this level of trim will be associated with an '87. It's like they sent more base '87s out than other years.
Currently there is a dealer in my area selling such an '87 with jus t25,062 miles. Car is listed at $10,000. I'll check it out for any prospective buyers. It is an automatic.

87 production looks no different that other years
Out of 30632 cars made in '87 MY
29594 got cruise
29748 got power locks
29561 got power drv seat
I looked up the numbers as well. My observation is unscientific and not based on the numbers- just what I have encountered. I personally have never seen a 1984-86 w/o cruise or power locks. But I have seen several '87s as such and even a convertible with an AM/FM radio w/ no cassette.
The early C4's didn't have a lot in the way of standard equipment. 87's did have power windows as standard along with dual power mirrors, and A/C.
My 87 has these options:
6-way power driver's seat $240
leather seat trim $400
power door locks $190
cruise $185
Z52 suspension $470
rear defogger $165
bronze acrylic top $615.
The car was originally ordered by and delivered to the GM Environmental Activities division in Warren, MI. So it would be hard to say why the car was ordered in that specific configuration.

I had a quick look yesterday. Car looks very very good. Too snowy to drive it. Tires are old. My "I want them all" syndrome is a painful affliction.
