There were 56,000 miles on the car..It was spotless..I did a lot of upgrades as well How bad is state farm gonna screw me? Please help!

It may depend on whether claim is under homeowners or auto comp.

Homeowners will generally pay for any parts, but not your own car. I would get as much documentation as possible receipts, awards, etc. Rough guess between $10k and $13k. Check all the books, NADA etc, and check EBAY, Autotrader and craigslist. Check nationwide, not just local. For all practical purposes, you are "selling" your car to the insurance company, unless you have agreed value policies. You don't have to take their first offer. Sorry for your loss, Steel blues 6pds are almost irreplaceable (you might want to point that out to them).

Sorry to hear about your loss. You could also go to your local bank and ask a loan officer the value of your car as if you were asking for a loan. I agree that the 10K to 13K seems like it's in the ballpark. I just bought a super clean 1990 coupe with 61,000 miles. The bank placed a value of 12.5k for it. However, I paid only 1/2 of that value for the car, so actual purchase prices could vary greatly from the blue book values.

Gather any and all pictures you might have taken of the exterior, interior, and under hood before the fire as well as all the receipts you may have for the upgrades you have done. Proving to the insurance co. that the car was in excellent condition will go a long way for you. Good luck.

So sorry for your loss. The only consolation is no one was hurt.

You might also go to the value guide on Hargerty's website for some figures. The last C4 value guide that was published in Corvette Magazine may be helpfull also. Anything that you can produce on paper can only help your cause in dealing with the insurance when trying to get a fair settlement. I hope when all is said and done you land on your feet. Good luck.

Sorry to hear of your loss.
Contact your agent and see what he/she says.

If you have auto and home with the same company, it should help in the long run. Agent and adjuster will figure it out.

Good luck whatever happens.

that is some bad news!! Sorry about your loss.

others can gain an insight by this though, a perfect reason to have an "agreed upon value" insurance policy. Then there is no squabbling going on about what it may be worth.

Sorry to hear about this.

Steel Blue is one of my favorite C4 colors. Love the 6 speed too.

Like others have said, take some evidence to the insurance adjuster. Things like pictures, receipts, trophys if you have any, etc. I had a car totalled when someone ran into it while I was stopped, and another car that was stolen. In both cases they made an offer that sounded like that was their only deal. I showed them pictures, receipts, all the upgraded parts, the rarity of them by showing I searched for them for a couple years, etc. All of the evidence even if it is just showing how much you loved the car helps. It makes the adjuster think that it is a better than normal car and can help him justify a better price.

Usually they will start with an offer of trade in value for an average car, or they will look at comparable cars for sale recently. Many times this will be a low value. If they are looking at comparables, be sure to look at what they are considering comparable since many times they don't have a clue as to what makes a nice car vs a junk one. Like said above, it is a negotiation since you are "selling" your car.

I had State Farm for both of my complete losses and the first offer was quite low, but after several discussions and follow up pictures etc. the final offer I accepted was a little lower than I hoped for on one, and the other was actually a little higher. On mine the car insurance covered it and the agent stated that if it could or should be insured separately from the home then the home does not cover it.

It got kind of confusing on a friend's car that was torn apart doing a engine/transmission rebuild and was out of the car in the garage when the car and parts were stolen. For him it worked out that the same company had both the home and car so they were on the hook for it either way. The car insurance is what paid.

Good luck. I hope it works out for you and you can find another to replace it.
