Default Engine VIN Question on a 94'

Happen to have parts removed to get at the Opti-spark and figured I'd check engine #. The manual states 1R5XXXXXX. I have V0831WHF. Anyone know what I got? Thanks.

I got it from the pad by the coil.

Because your block at least is not from a Vette

The correct block for your year would be coded ZWA , ZWB or ZWC

WHF is listed as a '94 Camaro ( 2 bolt mains ) w/ auto

FWIW
Vette and F-Body LT1 engines are identical except the Vette got 4 bolt mains
The lower 275 Hp rating of the F-Body version ( vs 300 Hp ) was because of the more restrictive exhaust used on those cars

Thanks. I did find some info "1994 350 275hp TPI F, Auto, Oil cooler, early". Just like you state. Great, now I got a basket case. I do have aluminum heads. The car runs rough and leaks oil, now I know why, it's been messed with. Time to make it better.

All C4 vette LT1's and L98's are two bolt mains, not that it makes much difference.

Thanks for the info, I need to brush up on the LT1, I'm a big block Olds guy. So basically I got a non-numbers matching car all else being equal sort of. The engine has been replaced, so as I go through any troubleshooting to fix my hesitation problem and rough idling, I just need to keep that in mind. I mentioned basket case only because I have interior issues, window issues and some body issues. My son repainted the car in tech school because the clear coat and paint was peeling and the instructor noticed that the car had been repainted 5 times before. It just makes me wonder.

As I noted, the engines are the effectively the same as far as problem solving goes.
There are external differences like the crank hub , front accessory drive and exh manifolds that have ( had) to be fitted in order to use the F-Body block in your car

I believe I'd be "wondering" also BUT I believe I'd be putting a "mil gauge" to the exterior painted surfaces to confirm the comment "5 times" - since it was done in a tech school environment it would seem to have been a candidate for a proper "strip & refinish".

I noticed a sensor between #1 and #3 plug only because there was one wire that was routed to it, not factory routing. Come to find out it is the engine temp sensor. So I guess the heads were installed on opposite sides or maybe on the camaro, which this engine comes from, this is correct.

I do believe the F-body LT1 does use a temp sender at that location for the gauge/light.
