so the other night i was a little to out of it to drive my vette home, had too many pepsi's or something, but anyway i had to let my friend drive the vette, well he downshifted into 2nd at about 65 and it jolted and took off like crazy, so basically downshifting at the speed into that gear is there anything i should check on it, it seems to be driving the same.
Hey,
Since nothing happened you should be OK, but don't make a habit of it.
If the Rpms get to high you could throw a rod, or you could damage the drive line. Just my thoughts I'm not a mechanic.

onzo
:yesnod: I went from redlining 3rd to 2nd before, the rear fishtailed, I immidiatly put clutch back in, and all is well. Just don't make a habit out of it.
I doubt that you hurt anything. In a LT1 six speed with stock gearing 72 MPH is where the rev limiter comes in. I would not advise doing this very often as it is hard on the drivetrain.
All depends on the car. For example I can run 2nd to 74mph in my mod'ed L98. So I can (and do) downshift to 2nd if I'm at 65 and going to "run" as I'll be in my powerband then. Just make sure you rev'match it properly.
