84/85 muffler question

Default 84/85 muffler question
Will the Y pipe and the Mufflers from a 84 fit my 85?

There shouldnt be a problem as I dont think the engine exhaust components changed. There were a bunch of changes over the years so hopefully someone who has made the swap will chime in. You might go to RockAuto and research the exhaust part numbers and see if they are all the same. That should tell ya.

They will fit, but the 84's mufflers tips were turned down toward the ground as opposed to sticking straight out of the back as on the 85's.

Rock Auto gives different part numbers for the 84 and 85 Y pipe. Wonder why?
