I just installed the new weather stripping on the rear hatch. Not to bad.
Now I am on the roof behind your head that goes down both sides.
I did watch a video on it but still have a question.
I have a 1984. I need to use 3M sealant/glue?
I do not really see where you push the weather stripping down in. Is it between the plastic and the metal? I does not look like their any thing on the back side to push it down in. I do see several screw holes.
thanks

As I remember, there are two lips on the metal track, with the screws, that you push the weather strip edges into. Test fit it all first, before you apply the needed glue. The glue sets up fast. I found this out when I gave myself too much weather stripping on one side and had to lift and re-glue. I was lucky I didn't have to buy a new strip.
When you remove the old weather strip you should see the track. Once you put the new stuff on, the top will be a bugger to get on the first couple of times until the new weather strip compresses a little. ( at least mine was)

MXW128 is right about that. My wife had to put her weight on the top so I could fasten it down after replacing the weatherstrip gasket. I didn't take the top off again for a month. By then, the gasket had conformed nicely. The original owner had put the top back on incorrectly, warping the gasket and forcing me to replace it, so be careful.
