This was my Saturday and Sunday Project of last week. She is getting new weisco forged pistons, WCCH stage 2 Heads, A very nice sounding cam, ARH headers and borla stinger exhaust, Fast 102/102 and a RTX clutch!
I do have to say, removing a Z06 engine is ALOT more time consuming than my C4 lol. Im glad that part is over. Now its time to rebuild, clean, clean, clean, and install the new engine!

Sounds like fun! One of the (several) attractive things about mass produced motors is the plethora of aftermarket parts at very reasonable prices. (Unlike the LT5, for example where huge power gains are available, but its all custom work, for the most part.)
Let's see some more pix as it progresses! (We LOVE pictures!)
OH! Almost forgot to ask: Did you have to remove the hood to pull the motor on your C6?
"LGAFF" (pictured) and me pulling my LT5 with hood attached...
Yes the hood had to come off but it only weighs 14 lbs so it wasn't bad. The Worst part Was Removing The Steering rack, Radiator And Condenser And All The Damn Things They Have Running To The Ls7 block! It was definitely fun. Today I ship the heads out to wcch. I'm hoping to have her back together by the end of march!
I love the lt5. I'm debating either buying a c5 vert or a c4. Z r1 next.

Funny you should say that. Brett is building a ZR-1 convertible, as we speak!
She has 90 on her. I believe in driving my cars vs leaving them sit with low miles so someone else can drive them after I kick the bucket lol.
I had 150 psi in cylinder +1 and 185 in the rest. It was stock and there are a lot of room for upgrades with these ls7 engines. With a good tune and my heads/cam/intake/exhaust and boost in compression and move over to e85 It should make mid 600 whp numbers. I was going to shoot for 700 but the cam I'd have to use would suck for drivability. I have my supercharged 383 lt4 I plan on racing this summer. The Z is more of a attention getting street car!

Alcohol isn't going to help much unless you also either increase compression, OR force it. SO! Tell us about the pistons and the and maybe a blower too!
12:5.1 is the compression I am shooting for. That , along with more timing with e85 and it should make a little more power. The biggest reason for running e85 for me is its at every Kwik trip here in the area. It burns alot cleaner, and is obviously it's way less prone to detonation. I considered forced induction but the ls7 doesn't have a lot of meat in the cylinder walls and I don't want to have to buy a block in the future. My friend put a e - force on his car and was making 680 whp on basically a stock ls7 but he cracked number 5. It cost almost 25 grand to rebuild that engine. That's not something I want to do. As I said I have a supercharged 383 lt4 to use as a race car. The Z is a daily driver and attention getter. I will probably attend a few big track days with it this year at road america but nothing to crazy and 600+ whp is alot for that car anyway. I would imagine it will break into the high 9s. I'm good with that. Lol
