Got a chance to get 4 brand new Hankook Ventus V12 Evo tires size 255/40/r17... my 92 vette has 275/40/r17..... what do you think they are asking 450 bucks
25" tall on the 255's, 25.7" tall on the 275's. 10" wide on the 255's, 10.8" wide on the 275's. Good price wrong tire. I use this site for tire comparison. http://www.rimsntires.com/specspro.jsp

don't see much problem using, but your speedo will read 60 and you'll be going 57.8

I don't see anything "spectacular" in the pricing so I'm wondering "why" a person would opt to replace a tire with an "undersized" product. Maybe I'm missing something but I can't imagine what!

was just wondering cause a guy near me has them for sale brand new -never used- and I need some new kickers
I am budgeting about $1,000 for a set of four. 1995 has wider 17 inch wheels and tires in the back then the front. Currently the car has EMTs, I don't think you can get them now.

Just because they are close and might be a good deal, isn't a reason to buy the wrong size tire.
The 275/40-17 tire on your car is one of the most popular tire sizes, and there are lots of tires to choose from in that size.
Just to disprove the naysays 255/40/17s work just fine. However, for a street tire and what sounds like normal use I would just buy 275/40/17's.
Only reason I have the 255/40/17's is that they are Dunlap Dizzera ZII's and even in the smaller size they are a WAY better Auto-x tire than ANY other street tire available in 275/40/17. That and the car is lower to the ground, better gear ratio....but I digress.

I'd get Nitto's 555 or Continental DW's in correct sizes for $100 more. Tire Rack or Discounttiredirect. Both great tires.
