4+3 shifter???
I have an 85 I'm playing with with a four speed. Does anybody know where I can find a good replacement shifter for this sloppy 4+3 factory piece o junk that's on here? Can't seem to find any aftermarket shifters for it. Or any ideas how to spruce this one up..... Thanks

No shifter that I am aware of...just OOP external linkage parts that make the stock shift have shorter throws. Mid America made the kit. Look here:

Ecklers used to sell it as well but I cannot find it on their page. I'm looking myself as I would like a set for my '88 4+3.

Typical of all external linkage shifters.
Start by checking the bushes on the linkages to the trans; most likely flogged out from age
i had to weld up and redrill the holes in the trans linkages that were worn oval
There were never any because the shifter is mounted to the trans tunnel ; not to the trans as is typical with other ext setups

I'll check the holes but if I find what you did I would be inclined to find some small bronze bushings to fit ths trans levers with...
